Two-day botanical illustration workshop at the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh
I’m delighted to be returning to the RBGE with a two-day workshop for beginners and intermediate painters.
Map the details and structure of autumnal subjects from the Garden with me. Select autumn fruits, seeds and leaves, and begin the observation process looking at structure, colour and texture, with drawing and preparatory paint work on day one, and painting on day two.
This is an in-person course at the RBGE and participants must be 16+
Saturday 15 – Sunday 16 November 2025
10:00 – 16:00
Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh, Arboretum Place, Edinburgh, EH3 5NY

Draw on day one, paint on day two
On day two, I will show you how to colour-match to your specimen, working with watercolour to match shades and tones, and then you will begin to paint.
The day’s activities will be accompanied by examples of my botanical artworks.
Accurate botanical illustration is a slow, careful and meditative process, so expect to take your painting home to finish.
