SSA 127th Annual Exhibition at the Royal Scottish Academy
I’m so chuffed that my piece, Arisaema kushianum – Intelligence in plants has been accepted in the Scottish Society of Artists 127th annual show in the National Museums of Scotland, RSA Galleries on The Mound this January.
My entry is a study of an Arisaema kiushianum: The structure and pattern in one of the worlds strangest flowers are an example of natural design in action, with the specific aim of attracting pollinators. These works are from a series called Emerge, Natural Design, inspired by the modernist plant photography of Karl Blossfeldt and the gothic sci-fi illustrations of H.R. Giger. This is a contemporary presentation of a centuries-old art form, botanical illustration.
